Emily is an accessibility consultant and journalist passionate about disability representation and designing inclusive end-to-end journeys for customers and colleagues.
She is Head of Accessibility and Inclusive Design at Mima and is a wheelchair user with a decade of experience as an accessibility consultant. Emily has most notably worked with MetroRio, the underground transport system servicing Rio de Janeiro, ahead of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games to ensure both new and existing stations would be accessible to tourists, athletes, and locals alike. She has also worked closely with Heathrow Airport to update their Access and Inclusion Standards, and is the accessibility lead for the National Railway Museum’s Vision 2025 masterplan.
Emily frequently presents and writes on disability issues, including authoring the Lonely Planet Guide to Accessible Rio de Janeiro, endorsed by the International Paralympic Committee. She is keen to ensure that the end-to-end experience is considered for disabled passengers and staff members alike, including the ability to digitally pre-tool, physically access and engage, and operationally benefit from positive, equitable experiences.
