Connected Places Catapult welcomes further new Non-Executive Director

The pandemic and its economic and fiscal impact have had a significant impact on the UK’s infrastructure. As our economy begins to recover, the focus is on consumer and passenger safety, eliminating carbon, and building regional productivity. Connected Places Catapult is delighted to welcome Dr Nelson Ogunshakin OBE as a new Non-Executive Director to our Board. 

Nelson has over 35 years in corporate executive and non-executive positions with a specific focus on investment, engineering, infrastructure, construction, regeneration and housing and the built environment. He has led on delivering major infrastructure investment projects and is currently CEO of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) with overall responsibility for global operations, as well as chair of the Investment Committee of ARM-Harith Infrastructure Investment $250m Funds (PE).  

As a board member of Transport for London (TfL), he is vice-chair of its Programmes and Investment Committee and serves on its audit and assurance committee. He was also board member of Crossrail Limited (CRL), chairing the Investment Committee on the new £18 billion East-West Rail development in London.   

Nelson’s previous roles include President and CEO of the UK Association for Consultancy and Engineering where he was responsible for the transformation and repositioning of ACE, an association representing consultancy and engineering companies with an annual turnover of circa £9bn. He also co-chaired the UK National Infrastructure Plan Strategic Engagement Forum (NIPSEF) and was appointed by the GLA as a member of the London Infrastructure Delivery Board.  

Nelson was awarded an OBE for his contributions to the UK Engineering and Construction Industry.
