National Highways needs innovative solutions to meet ambitious targets for:
National Highways has partnered with Connected Places Catapult to embrace innovation and address challenges of safety, innovation, and environmental sustainability.
Through a series of Accelerator programmes, the partnership has fostered collaboration between National Highways, SMEs, and major suppliers including Balfour Beatty PLC, Kier Group, and Jacobs to explore cutting-edge solutions to fast-track innovation across England’s motorways and major A-roads.
“Through these Accelerator programmes, Connected Places Catapult has been fundamental to enabling us and our supply chain to connect with the best and brightest minds and get closer to meeting those pressing needs of ours.”Nick Harris, CEO, National Highways
Connected Places Catapult has run three Accelerator Programmes which supported 26 SMEs to develop their ideas, and National Highways selected 13 SMEs to trial their innovations on the road network.
Together with National Highways, we refined the challenge themes for innovators to address and proactively scouted promising SMEs with innovations that could offer the right solutions.
National Highways started working with Connected Places Catapult in 2019 on a Hackathon, kicking off a five-year innovation partnership, including a one-off competition and three Accelerator programmes.
