Project Summary
The BikeBeacon project aims to improve safety for cyclists on rural roads by providing advanced warning to drivers of cyclists ahead. This project uses an architecture based on the use of the cyclists smartphone as an active ‘beacon’ to send current location, based on GPS, to a cloud based system that then distributes live warning alerts to in-vehicle systems
