Project Summary
This work aims to demonstrate the technical feasibility and environmental benefits of converting challenging waste streams into high-quality, drop-in aviation fuels. Avena Fuels’ project will develop process engineering?schematics towards its first Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) batches for regulatory testing, using either sewage sludge or farmyard waste as feedstock. The initiative will leverage a modular ‘Refinery-in-a-Box’ platform to produce and characterise SAF in line with ASTM D7566 requirements, supporting the pathway towards industry certification and market adoption.
Project Achievements
Our TRIG project successfully modelled the Agri waste to Bio-methane process with its co-products fully utilised in a circular system.

Our process model has informed the EPC design and RFP for engineering resource towards FOAK Build
Next Steps
Avena Fuels are now mobilising to FOAK plant as the next stage.
