Through BJR Solutions Ltd, Brian’s main focus is on policy mechanisms in support of zero emission technologies and alternative fuel pathways for commercial and heavy-duty vehicles. His clients include the Department for Transport, Zemo Partnership, the University of Exeter, Transport & Environment and BSI. Brian is BSI’s Technical Author supporting the development of a code of practice for public eHGV charging infrastructure design and was on Innovate UK’s assessment panel for the ZEHID projects. Brian authored T&E’s 2023 report “HGVs on the road to net zero”, based on research that firmly indicated a battery-electric future for all new HGVs is an achievable objective, well ahead of the existing 2035 and 2040 UK phase-out dates. Brian is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Environmentalist experienced in transport, energy, climate change, sustainability and vehicle safety. Before forming his own consultancy business in 2014, Brian worked in increasingly senior roles at TRL Ltd, mostly on HGV-related research, and spent several years at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, including time as Head of Energy.
