Scale-Up Support Programme
The Scale-Up Support Programme: Transport and Construction is an initiative funded by Innovate UK and delivered by Connected Places Catapult.
Running from October 2026 to March 2027, this pilot programme is designed to support a cohort of high-potential UK SMEs across transport, construction and infrastructure that have successfully validated their products or services and are preparing for their next stage of commercial growth.
Application support webinar
Connected Places Catapult will host an application support webinar to give applicants the opportunity to find out more about the programme offer, application and assessment process. The webinar is expected to take place on 26 August 2026, between 10:30 and 11:30.
Overview
The programme aims to address one of the key challenges facing innovative businesses: transitioning from a successful early-stage company into a scalable, investment-ready organisation. Through a combination of expert coaching, investor engagement and peer learning, the programme will help participating businesses build the foundations required for sustainable growth, increased market adoption and future investment.
Unlike traditional accelerator programmes that focus on proving technology or securing initial customers, this pilot is specifically targeted at businesses that are ready to scale and need support to strengthen their leadership, commercial strategy, organisational capability and access to capital.
What’s on offer?
- Scale-up coaching – Bespoke guidance on leadership, organisational design, growth strategy, sales capability and building a business ready for scaling.
- Investment support – Expert coaching on fundraising strategy, investor engagement and targeting the right type of finance.
- Investor introductions – Curated introductions to carefully selected investors, including venture capital, strategic and international investors aligned to each company’s growth ambitions.
- Investor mentoring – Direct feedback and insights from experienced investors and fund managers.
- Peer learning network – Opportunities to share experiences, challenges and best practice with fellow scale-up businesses and the wider Connected Places Catapult ecosystem.
- Investor showcase event – Access to a dedicated investor-focused event designed to raise visibility and create meaningful investment opportunities.
All support is fully funded and tailored to help ambitious SMEs strengthen their growth foundations, access new commercial opportunities and become investment-ready.
Please note that the Scale-Up Support Programme does not provide investment or direct financial funding to participating businesses, and while the programme is designed to strengthen investment readiness and commercial opportunities, Connected Places Catapult cannot guarantee that participation will result in securing investment, contracts, or other commercial outcomes.
The programme is aimed at ambitious UK SMEs that have already demonstrated market traction and now need support to achieve significant growth.
We are particularly seeking businesses that:
- Are UK-based with ambitions to scale nationally and internationally.
- Operate within transport, mobility, smart infrastructure, construction technology, urban data, or closely related sectors.
- Have established commercial traction, typically generating £500,000–£1 million or more in annual revenue, or demonstrating equivalent traction through public sector contracts or grant funding.
- Are at Series A stage or preparing for Series A investment.
- Have a technology-enabled offering, including hardware, software, platforms or data-driven solutions.
- Have the leadership ambition and organisational potential to become high-growth businesses.
The programme is specifically intended for companies that have the potential to scale but would benefit from targeted support before entering a sustained growth phase.
If your business has a proven solution, strong market traction and ambitions to scale, this programme offers a unique opportunity to access expert growth support, strategic industry connections and high-quality investor engagement. We encourage eligible SMEs ready to take the next step in their growth journey to apply and join this first-of-its-kind pilot programme.
We support the submission of all relevant solutions that solve core challenges across UK transport and the built environment (for example, Transport, Mobility, Smart Infrastructure, Construction and Urban Data).
Who should apply?
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a small-to-medium sized enterprise (<250 employees, annual turnover <£44M, balance sheet total <£38M)
- Be a UK-registered business
- Have a solution at technical readiness level (TRL) 7 – 9. This means that the solution has at least been demonstrated in an operational environment and is ideally proven in an operational environment.

- Be available to actively participate in the programme at executive-level between October 2026 and March 2027
