Connected Places Catapult Chief Executive, Nicola Yates OBE, to stand down

11.09.23 LONDON: Connected Places Catapult, the UK’s innovation accelerator for cities, transport, and place leadership today announces that its Chief Executive, Nicola Yates OBE, has notified the Board of Directors of her intent to stand down from her role, a position that she has held since April 2019. The search for Ms Yates’ successor will begin immediately and is expected be completed before the end of the year.

In sharing her news with colleagues today Nicola commented that; “Having updated the Chair and the Board of my plans, we have agreed that I will leave  Connected Places Catapult as soon as a new CEO is in role, expected to be early 2024.  I have had 6 years leading a Catapult. Here at Connected Places Catapult we have recently been able to sign a new 5-year Grant Funding Agreement with Innovate UK and this seems a pivotal moment for me to hand over the reins.  Working with so many talented people and customers to deliver innovation, jobs and growth across the UK and globally has been an exciting challenge and a privilege.”

“Nicola has worked enthusiastically with colleagues both inside and outside the organisation to bring Connected Places Catapult to its successful place today and I have enjoyed working with her closely since joining nearly 4 years ago.  The Catapult has an emerging 5-year vision that the Innovate UK funding commitment and other key commercial clients will help make reality, and that’s an exciting opportunity for a new CEO to lead.  On behalf of the Board and Catapult colleagues we sincerely thank Nicola for her commitment, drive and energy.”
Professor Greg Clark CBE, Chair of the Board at Connected Places Catapult

The Catapult will shortly confirm the Executive Search partner we will be working with to support the Board in our CEO search.
