Urban Challenge Partnership Programme

We partner with places to identify and address their urban challenges. By creating UK business partnerships with local innovators to co-create bespoke solutions fit for local context we establish lasting links between UK and local businesses. And by carefully facilitating the process from challenge identification through showcase, testbeds and on-the-ground solution deployment, we scale up the best innovative technologies and solutions.

The process and methodology for the Urban Challenge Partnership Programme creates stakeholder buy-in with government, companies, academics, and citizens and helps ensure sustainability of local innovation-based initiatives.

What do we offer?

Our Urban Challenge Partnership Programme combines Connected Places Catapults cutting edge work across:

  • Innovation as a Service – providing impartial ‘innovation as a service’ for mobility and built environment businesses, infrastructure providers and public institutions to catalyse step-change improvements in the way people live, work and travel.
  • Commercialising Cutting-edge Research – connecting businesses and public sector leaders to cutting-edge research. We help develop, implement, and commercialise the latest technology and innovation for existing markets, as well as create demand and grow new markets in the UK and globally.
  • Business and Innovation Accelerators – coalescing vital stakeholders in the built environment and mobility industries eco-system. We have had 8 successful accelerator programmes to date, selecting and supporting over 80 exceptional transport, construction and services companies, many of whom now have expanded their operations globally.
  • Deploying Innovation Testbeds – deploying innovative solutions in-situ to showcase our UK-local business partnership, present the art-of-the-possible in the future of mobility and the built environment, gain stakeholder buy-in and investor commitment to scale sustainable solutions.
