Purpose of the Role  

The Business Performance Manager will be responsible for analysing data produced across the business, deriving insights and recommendations for the Corporate Management Team (CMT), Board and leaders across Connected Places Catapult (CPC). The role holder will love working with data and bring a structured approach to deriving insights from all disciplines across the business.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved at the start of CPC’s strategic journey for implementing a data visualisation programme. Working with the Power BI Analyst, the Business Performance Manager will collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to establish and build a baseline suite of reports and visualisations. Once established, the key function of the role will be applying intelligence to the data gathered to inform CPC’s external evaluation, evidence of impact and internal decision making.

You will be responsible for working with colleagues to ensure that appropriate data collection is in place to enable accurate reporting and analysis to be undertaken. Initially, the key focus of this will be improving the quality of data being derived from activities across all areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the data holders across the business to assure data collection processes, ensuring high quality, complete and timely data collection is achieved
  • Analyse data/ reports produced making recommendations that enables CMT to put in place:
    • Improvements to data collection processes
    • Data driven interventions that enable CPC to achieve its targets
  • Put in place processes to track and monitor CPC’s delivery of milestones
  • Working with colleagues in the Economics team put in place metrics that allow CPC to track and evidence its achievement of Outputs and Outcomes aligned to its Logic Model
  • Undertake analysis of the effort expended across the business on the delivery of Outputs and Outcomes and produce regular reports that demonstrate how core grant is invested to deliver impact for UK plc
  • Support the preparation and evidence collection for CPC’s external evaluation working with key stakeholders across the business to draw together reporting requirements ahead of time
  • Working with the Content Team, turn analysis into compelling outcome-based insights for inclusion in impact case studies
  • Lead the development of CPC’s business intelligence strategy and governance processes
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and engage effectively
  • Train users in the business intelligence solutions developed


Required Skills and Experience

  • A track record of working with tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Dynamics to interpret reports, dashboards and visualisations produced
  • Knowledge of technical management of information, analysis and relevant software systems
  • Ability to write reports and communicate outcomes in an interesting and compelling way using a variety of formats
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with an organised, proactive approach
  • Strives to drive business improvements to contribute to the success of the business
  • Self-motivation and ability to work without intense supervision
  • Pride in their work, and sense of accountability for deliverables
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, collaboration and technical skills
