Financing Homes for Healthy Ageing Breakfast Talk

DATE : 19 February 2020
LOCATION : Connected Places Catapult @ Urban Innovation Centre, 1 Sekforde Street, London, EC1R 0BE
START TIME : 8:30 am END TIME : 10:30 am

The Centre for Ageing Better’s landmark report ‘Healthy ageing innovation and investment in the UK’ (2019) highlighted the potential £320 billion market found in customers aged 50 and older. Combine this with the fact that 77% of this demographic are living in the home they intend to stay in despite its inadequacy to keep them safe or be able to support their changing needs. Between 2007-2014 the NHS saw the number of patients aged 60 and older in A&E, increase by two-thirds.

To keep our population independent and living in their homes for as long as possible, support for home adaptations needs to become accessible and affordable. There is growing interest and innovation in this area. This talk will discuss the innovative solutions in finance that are beginning to emerge that seek to bridge supply and demand.

Our talk will be led by our guest speakers including:

  • Libby Eastley, Head of Business Development, Living Plus (Places for People)
  • Christopher Down, Founder, Solis Capital LLP
  • Stephen Muers, Head of Strategy and Market Development, Big Society Capital
  • Mark Norbury, Chief Executive, UnLtd
  • Henry Smith, Senior Programme Manager-Homes, Centre for Ageing Better
